Saturday fun: Built By Snow, Hollywood Gossip, Many Birthdays, and...Black & Tan dance party.

Well, well, well....what do we have here? The Built By Snow "Mega" CD release party (read a review here), and Hollywood Gossip? On the same night? Gentleman, it's time to haul out your tight jeans and Rivers Cuomo glasses: It's a (lovable) nerd-off!

Equally gleeful are The Bubbles, who I'm just now hearing about. The McKenzies - I believe this is their MySpace page, but I'm not entirely certain - add a healthy dose of harmonica to the mix. All in all, this looks to be a fairly angst-free evening.

If you're feeling more pensive however, you can walk right next door to the Mohawk on Saturday, where Ume will be having their CD release party:

They are playing with the Japanese-tinged Many Birthdays, whom you know we heart very much already.

I want to make a stop by Club DeVille on Saturday to see buddies in Built By Snow and Hollywood Gossip, but I have to admit I'm sort of in the mood for a different type of music this weekend...the kind you make on a computer.

Prepmode and Doneski, the czar of Austin nightlife blog The Famousish, will be doing their thing at Black & Tan.

Speaking of Black & Tan. True confession here. I sometimes have this problem where I'm the only one who wants to go dancing....and if I run into that on Saturday, I'm thinking of jazzing myself up enough to go by myself. Do any of y'all do that? At times, I've considered taking along my cheap little camera with me to places like these, snapping random photos and telling everyone there that I'm "press," which is a MAJOR LIE. (Unless you consider a blog you invented yourself to be a valid member of the media corps). "Hi, I'm a correspondent for Blogspot.com. Would you mind posing for a picture?"

How funny would that be!!

I find myself wanting to go dancing a lot, and unfortunately my friends don't dance. Your idea is great (unlike my lame attempt to dance in my apartment instead)! Your blog totally counts as media.

I, unfortunately, am one of those lame people that deny my friends the opportunity to dance. I say go out and do it! A little lying never hurt anyone.

Haha. With y'alls encouragement, I just may! If I do, I'll bring back pics for proof. Excuse me, "photographs."

I will, at times, go out by myself -- usually in hopes that I run into someone at least or am meeting up with someone. But your idea doesnt' sound half bad. I'm sure people would just like to get their picture taken.

Glad to hear of all these awesome Austin girls going out dancing alone. I actually started style watch to give me an excuse and feel better about going places alone, which i did and still do a lot. It's something a lot of people are fucking terrified to do, and it can end up equally awesome or terrible. It depends on the night, the place and what you make of it. Seriously Tolly, twitter at me or call/txt 5128032441. I'll get my dance on which ya, but I'll be in steampunk gear saturday so i don't want to look like a moron at black and tan.

That's just what I'm thinking about right now: should I go out by myself to dance or not. Taking a camera with you would be a great idea..but my town is pretty small to run into anybody who knows for sure that I'm not a correspondent. And I'd say it does feel sad that nobody would come with me. But what if the desire to hit the crowd, to listen to loud music you surely gonna enjoy is much bigger than social judgement. In the end I'm sure it'll be a good opener of your spirit and will add to feeling confident...
Now Im ready to try it. Yes!!
