Popples.

"I had a dream that I gave birth to a Popple."

"A taco?"

"No, not a taco; a 'Popple.'"

"You dreamt you gave birth to a taco?"

This was me and a co-worker earlier tonight at at Daily Grill's Happy Hour. Aside from the fact that I really can't stop giggling about the notion of giving birth to tacos, it also dawned on me that perhaps not every child from the '80s is familiar with this wonderful toy.

As you can see, the Popple is sort of a cross between a kangaroo, a ball, and a teddy bear. A "soft fluffy ball that turns into a friend," if you will!

Austinites, was I the only one who played with these? Was this some weird toy that only San Antonio kids got?

No way! I had a rockstar popple. It had a microphone and a mohawk. I don't remember ever getting rid of it, but my parents never could find it after I moved out. C'est la vie. RIP, Rockstar Popple!

The Seguin kids got them too. Maybe it IS time for a Popple rebirth!

I totally had a Popple. I didn't love them as much as Barbies, though.

I had a Popple! I loved my Popple almost as much as my Wuzzle, Eleroo.

I had one and I loved it until I accidentally set it on FIRE and nearly burned down my bedroom.

Note- Do not put a popple on top of a lamp.

OMG you WOULD blog about Popples--I freakin' loved them! I had a purple one that I played with so much it got that worn fuzzy sheen where a stuffed animal/ball isn't soft anymore and no one else will touch it because it looks ratty and old but you still love it ... yessssss Popples.

LOL, I am THRILLED other people know what a Popple is!!! When no one at my table knew what they were, I was like, duh you guys! POPPLES!

Raychelle - I *also* lerved the Wuzzles. I think I had "Bumblebear," which was like a cross between a bee and a teddy bear. With daisies for antennae. (?)

Lyssa - I also wore my poor Rockstar Popple to death, literally. I remember bringing it to school and having a "mock burial" after my stupid neighbor accidentally ripped her head off.
