I can't stop listening to The Pass.

I thought I had gotten over synthesizers.  I thought I had fully crossed over to a warm, healthy embrace of real instruments and non-edited vocals.  I thought I was finished making multiple volumes of "Tolly's Boner Jams" CD's for the car, worthy of any gay dance club with shiny lasers and a disco ball.

And then ... this band contacted me.

What can I say?  I'm in love.   I hardly ever post about dance parties anymore -- RIP, 25-year-old Tolly -- but by God, I'm posting about this one.

Here's a picture of The Pass, responsible for the delightful music video ("Treatment of the Sun") you see above.

Ooh they are so hipster! I want to squeeze them. I want to nuzzle their moustaches. I want to go to their show here in Austin on February 9, and you know what? I'm gonna.

Ghost Room
Wednesday, February 9
9:00pm
Openers: Gina Chavez and Aly Tadros
Cover: $5

I will surely post some MP3's by these guys leading up to the show, so stay tuned.

Also -- these guys are from Louisville, Kentucky.  What IS it about Louisville?  One of my favorite day job clients is from Louisville, and now, this band.  I've never even been to Kentucky!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I'll totally go to the show with you! Oh, and that'll give me a chance to try out my new fancy shmancy Canon DSLR :))

@BSimms8907 -- YAY BRITTNEY! Let's do this, girl. Oooooh your camera sounds purdy! I cannot wait to see what you do with it!

And hey -- I totally owe you a FB message! I got 2 of them (re: sponsors/post), and will respond today.

Damn it, Tolly! I've listened to it twice already! Ugh, I'm hooked too. ;-)

Why Tolly why??? Why do you pull me away from my fancy adult music and reel me in with this all-too-danceable ultra pop decadence?? Now I want to turn off my Josh Groban and get my dance on!! You just might see me there on the 9th......

@Stephanie -- It's seriously infectious, right?

@Cathy -- I KNOW. I am sorry! Sometimes you just need some pop decadence though, knowmsayin'?

i'm still 25, but i have a feeling i'll be jamming out to all things ghostland-like for my whole life, and the pass is definitely ghostland-like.

you know how i sometimes judge whether or not i like a band? if they have at least one song that sounds like it could be a song played at the beginning of an alamo drafthouse show. this band totally could.

love this. maybe i'll be joining you - 9 o'clock isn't so super late for a school night.

Louisville. It's one of those things that is now coming up everywhere.

I'd never been there until last week when I spent two days with some online friends who live there. I loved it!

@Katherine - YAY. Maybe we can make it *totally* justified by "working" together like we've been planning, then ... the show? :) I think that's a pretty solid plan.

@Le Tigre - I know, Lauren. I KNOW. Hearts for The Pass!

@Cynthia - Right?? Ok, you have to tell me all about it! I feel like Louisville is the new Ashville, North Carolina or something. A hidden artist enclave? Am I correct in that impression?

This is very Phoenix/Ghostland-esque, and I am 159234% all about that. I feel like I'm back at Coachella.

Srsly considering attending this show, too. Thanks for the heads up!

P.S. Boner Jams, LOL. Pretty sure I want a burned copy of all of them.
