Art teacher.

Remember when I said I was going to work on my photography this summer?  Well guess what.  I'M TOTALLY DOING IT.

However.  As you can see, I still have a lot to learn.

What you have just witnessed are the five very best pictures of approximately 5,000 I took yesterday.  I don't know how fashion bloggers do it!  Photography is exhausting.  But I liked my outfit, so I thought: What the heck?  I'm gonna go have some fun with Danger Kate.  (That's what I've decided to name my new camera.  We're a good team, she and I.)

Now I seldom wear glasses, but when I do, friends tend to freak out.  I guess because they change my face so much.  But I have to admit, I think it's a nice effect!  Combined with the smock-like top, I felt very art teacher in this outfit.  Like, good morning class!  Today we are making earthenware.

Those two necklaces are a gift from my mom.  For my 28th birthday, she gave me a jewelry box filled with vintage necklaces, rings, and earrings that she picked out from thrift and consignment stores in San Antonio.  Talk about freaking out.  If memory serves, I immediately put 3-4 pieces on, then proceeded to model them for my parents, my husband, our waiter at the restaurant where we were eating, neighboring tables, the hostess, and eventually, strangers in the parking lot.  Which is about the kind of behavior you can expect on an only child's birthday.

I'm totally with you on the self-photography thing - I'm either starting to believe these bloggers are insanely gorgeous, or have husbands/boyfriends to do it for them. A lot are the latter, I've discovered, but there's still tons that do their own. As I'd put you in the insanely gorgeous category, knowing it's difficult for you, too, makes me feel better about my own attempts.

Check out Monkeyface's Self-Caught feature. I haven't studied it enough to be successful with my own self-photography yet, but something tells me the key is in there. That, or lots and lots of learning by mistake.

Hey, I think you're doing a great job with the self-photography, Tolly! It's not an easy skill to learn. Does this mean you'll be doing more outfit posts, more often...? Please say yes?

Rose (Pink SunDrops) -dude, thank you for that link. I'm gonna go check it out. Haha ... Ross (husband) would die if I asked him to take photos of me! :) Maybe I'll ask him to do it sometime just for kicks, and post the results. They will be absurd.

Kait, thank you! I believe it is Wet N' Wild, and I purchased it from the grocery store. When I get home I'll check for you!

Lauren, that is perhaps the biggest compliment I've ever gotten. Seeing as how Lisa Loeb was my first girl-crush. Oh, Reality Bites! And your endless cultural influence! How I miss the 90s.

Marie, thank you! I'm not the MOST stylish dresser on the planet, but when I've got something cute on and the time to do a shoot ... I think I will! Working from home makes me a hybrid of a housewife and a caveman, so outfits -- real, live outfits, with accessories and shoes -- are special events.

I would have done the exact same immediate modeling of the jewelry!! What a good gift idea. I'll have to remember that for when I have no idea what to get someone. I plan on following your blog :) Can't wait to move back to Austin!

I'm drooling over your shoes. I found them at F21, but they didn't have my size and they're not online anymore. If they are size 8, will you leave them for me in your will? :)
PS I'd love to shop with you some time!

Jada, thank you. I know -- there IS so much to learn. I'm having fun with it, and trying to refrain from comparing my pics to, say, Sea of Shoes. :)

VW -- It was one of the BEST presents I have ever gotten! Where do you live now? When you move back to Austin, let's be friends!

Emily, they ARE F21! :D I'm such a moron though, I got them on a Wednesday, wore them to a hotel the following Friday, and totally left them there on Saturday. OOPS. (Fortunately the hotel is mailing them to me).

And sadly, they're not size 8! But a size 6, dollface.
