So I finally joined the 21st century, and created a Facebook Fan Page for Austin Eavesdropper.
I put it up a little over a week ago, and I gotta say, I'm already having a good time with it. It feels conspiratorial! Like this little back room where readers of this blog can hang out and chat with each other. I resisted for the longest time, because I just felt so sheepish telling people, "hey! Be my fan." But the reality is, if I want this blog to grow and be healthy and strong, I have to adapt already (old man grumble) and adopt existing promotional tools (cough, cough, wheeze, "how do I use THE GOOGLE?").
To celebrate Austin Eavesdropper's new Facebook page, I'm partnering with women's dress & clothing shop Shabby Apple to do a rad, vintage-inspired giveaway. Huzzah.
This dress is called "Spanish Steps." Are you liking the Roman Holiday it's channeling? Because I do. The cream / tan / a-line skirt action reminds me of Betty Draper ... whose style I covet. As does Zooey Deschanel. Sometimes I fantasize about Zooey and I watching Mad Men together, and taking fashion notes. I bet she fantasizes about that, too.
That's it! Yay for Internet magic.
High-five Shabby Apple for helping me host this giveaway! If you've got a hankering for vintage-looking stuff, like me, I recommend their Facebook page for insider-y promotions and discounts.
I'd also like to say a special thank you to everyone who has "liked" Austin Eavesdropper's page already on Facebook. Your support is so awesome, and even though it takes me forever sometimes to do the things I want to do for this blog -- create a Facebook page, get a nice camera, redesign it, etc. -- I love how you people are there for me each step of the way! Great big Tolly hug.
I'll keep this giveaway open for one week, and close entries at 5pm CT on Wednesday, June 22.
good luck!

Tolly, I would backhand my mother for this dress. Seriously. Or I'd at least trip my puppy. Something mean but not quite abusive, you name it ;)
Also, as mentioned in my submission, I think Baby Jesus would want me to have double entries since I fanned your FB page yesterday without prompting and have been with you on Twitter for a long time! ;)
LOVING the Eavesdropper, I feel so cool and connected when I read your site! xoxo
LOL (literally) Lani. Dude ... alliteration.
Way to enlist the help of the Baby Jesus in this giveaway. Rather than resorting to violence, I mean. Speaking of puppies (and other cute little creatures), I died at your "lady speaks cat" vid yesterday on FB. Is it weird to admit that I truly saw myself in that woman?
Omg me!!!! I did all the steps -- or rather -- I was doing them already. ;) Eavesdropper is daily for me, duh.
But piggybacking on Lani's idea, I've decided to also get help from a deity. Lani selected Baby Jesus, so I'm calling on the Virgin Mother. Keeping it in the family, yo.
Mother Mary help me win this adorbs dress!!!!! All hail.
Marie you are cracking me UP. Second literal LOL of the day ... and it's barely 10! Hahaha, "all hail."
Seriously, Tolly. I just jumped on the Mad Men bandwagon last week. I'm officially obsessed. I LOVE THE WARDROBE.
And don't feel alone in the Zooey day dream, I feel the same way! :)
KELLY. Are you as obsessed with that show as I am? Not even joking, I was blonde when I started watching (2 and 1/2 years ago), and Joan Holloway inspired me to dye my hair red.
I think that makes me a superfan. Or ... in possession of attachment issues.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure Zooey day dreams about fashion-hunting with us, too.
Done & done!!! How fun does that photo shoot look, by the way?! Happy Hump Day!! xo
Right, Kelly? Totally wouldn't mind flying to Rome and posing in front of the REAL Spanish Steps. I'm free next week, Shabby Apple. ;)
Tolly, yeah, I can see some crazy cat lady in you. Glad you enjoyed the vid, our daughter died laughing, "like to climb and get high" LOL
Marie, I see how it is. You invoke the Holy Mother... okay, I'll see you a Mary and up you a SAINT CHANEL.... ;)
I love, love, love this dress and your blog! I am so excited you are facebook now. Thanks for the chance to win the dress! Good luck with your goals. I know you can do it.
i don't have a twitter account, but i liked you on FB and now follow your blog via google, hope that's close enough!

Between Lani & Marie I am giggling at my desk, forcing my male workspace partner to ask me to explain myself. He did not go as gaga for the dress as I did. Alas, I'm uncertain my *ahem* healthy frame would be most complimented by this style, so I'm leaving it to Team Lani/BabyJ to battle it out with Team Marie/MamaMary for the win. As always, Tolly, your blog perks my day up like cocaine does for a hooker.
Gee what a rockin blog you have! The Shabby Apple giveaway ain't so bad either!
I'm a huge fan. Want to shop til I drop in there.
Like you on FB!!
OMG!!!!! I could totally see you in that butterscotch top and white linen skirt at the Trevi Fountain in Rome at night.
Lani and Marie, you guys are just going to have a DEITY SMACKDOWN to win that dress. Someone needs to tagteam the Holy Ghost already and make this a competitive Biblical showdown.
Sarah, thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it here. It took me long enough to get ol' Austin Eavesdropper on Facebook, huh?!
Jill, that is marvelous! Thank you so much for entering!
... And Kay, your, "like cocaine does for a hooker" certainly made mine. Day. Not my hooker.
Wanda, you are awesome. And, dude. Isn't Shabby Apple kinda cool? Their stuff makes me wanna channel some serious Mad Men.
Daddy, you are *never more cute* than when using the acronym "OMG." :D :D :D Never change!
Hi Tolly, just wanted you to know that I've lurked your blog FOREVER, and am finally leaving a comment. I'm not in Austin but Eavesdropper makes me wish I was. Anyway, thank you for letting me peer in on your life ... I especially like the stories you tell about your life. More of those soon I hope?
You are so very welcome, Tolly! Thanks for being so awesome.
