This was totally in my yard!

Doesn't this look fake?

It's NOT fake. This guy was 100% in my yard today.

Wildlife is descending on Hyde Park in Austin, Texas.

Here is Claudia, assessing the situation.

As you can see by her fur-hawk, she isn't quite sure what to make of it.

HAHA! That bird is taunting the poor cat. Or the cat is thinking it's about to bag its momma dinner. And speaking of its momma - I love the bangs!

@Amanda - LOL, I think it's the latter. She's a huntress. In fact I'm kind of surprised she hasn't captured it yet.

And, thanks for the word on bangs!

Anyone else here find birds really frightening? Especially these big ones?

WOW! I believe that that majestic creature is a Blue Heron. So cool!

@Mel - Yes. I find those birds threatening. Even though I love nature. It's like looking straight back to the Triassic Period when you look into those birds eyes, and it is DISCONCERTING.

@oh_steph - You are our resident naturalist! Thanks for the ID!

@IBLEEDPINK - I love your commenter name. That is all. (And! If you think this is scary, you should have seen the HAWK that was there yesterday too. I'm not even joking. Apparently we live on a wildlife preserve.)

@Kristen - YAY! Coming from an artist like you, that seals it. I'm keeping the can phone.

We have the herons down by us too...and a SUPER large duck that waits at our apartment door for bread. No shit. Of course, when you live RIGHT by the lake, I guess that's to be expected!

Hahhhahaa! I love your ongoing text commentary there...You're right, it looks completely fake. Are you sure you didn't Photoshop that guy in to make others jealous of the wildlife that flocks to your yard?
