BLOGGER MEET-UP

Or maybe like Twitter and "tweet-ups," I should say "bleet-up"....which sounds like sheep.

Anyway. I'm going to keep this post short and sweet, but here's the deal. I'm thinking of organizing a happy hour or something where ALL local Austin bloggers get together. Readers welcome too. Would you all be into that?

I've been considering this idea for a long time for the following reasons:

A) It's a good way to trade post ideas,
B) It's an excuse to drink together,
C) It's a way to connect artists, publicists, musicians and whoever with the types of bloggers in town who dig their stuff. Some of us write on music...some food...some events...etc. So let's get all this networking potential out of our systems already and connect faces to names.
D) There are far too many people named here and here who I still haven't met yet in person.

Yes? No? Bar suggestions? If you're in, email me (left sidebar) or leave a comment.

Any restaurant that doesn't *POUNCE* on hosting this is nuts. Not that I'm saying they should but just... we all know how social media works. Trio at the Four Seasons has a great 1/2 off happy hour. Delicous wines, truffle fries, mussels, cheese plates, and so much more that I can't even think of it all right now... It's cheap on its own and they are known to give a little star treatment. If you ask niceyl, they'll let you make s'mores outside over looking Town Lake and provide all the goods and fire for it. I've done it about 3 times now. :)

OMG - that sounds amazing, Amber. If you'll excuse me, I think I just drooled on my laptop

Hi, this is a great idea, but I feel compelled to point out that the Austin Bloggers posse has had a monthly meetup since 2002, and everyone is welcome to show up! In fact, we'd like a lot if more new people came. The next one is July 15th at Cafe Caffeine. I'll be en route to Portugal, but I assure you plenty of friendly bloggers will be there!

Hey, Eavesdropper, what McChris said. :-) Hope to see you at one of the Austinbloggers events.

While you're at it, check out Chip Rosenthal's Austinbloggers site, which pulls together posts from dozens of Austin blogs in one place.

Count this one in.

Hey McChris! That's cool, I should come to one of those meet-ups sometime! I think I'd like to try something though where non-bloggers could come too, though. Give us ideas for posts, you know? I think you do the monthly thing really well so I'm envisioning more of a once-in-a-while thing...with alcohol. :)

And Prentiss, you'll be happy to know I put all of my posts on Austinbloggers.org - of course! :)

Yo. Mohawk would be happy to do a happy hour, with guest blogger bartenders. Blogs and non blogs can meet up. Shit, we could even throw a show if you wanted to. Point is, we embrace the blogosphere and hold it close to our bosom. We do this in the name of freedom. If you wanna do it, just contact the Chief@mohawkaustin.com.

Yeah, the first Austin Bloggers meetup I went to two years ago sucked and no one talked to us (I think we were more outgoing than this group of coders). We tried again and it was the same thing. I'm sure it's cool for other people but for me as more of an extrovert, I'd love an alternative.

I organize a lot of Tweetups in Austin but would love to hang at a Blogup/Bloggeria(gross)/BloggyHour! In short, I'M IN!!!

I'm intrigued! Let's do it.

Simian, Chris, Kyle, Maisquared, Lani, Angeliska - yeah!! Awesome. We'll get this party started.

Moody - you totally rock. Thanks for the offer, I love it.

McChris and Prentiss - do you think AustinBloggers.org be interested in co-sponsoring? Not as a replacement for the monthly blogger meet-ups but more like one big "Meet Your Bloggers" thing w/ non-bloggers welcome.

I would be stoked to attend this and help in any way possible. I think it is a great idea to open it up to readers and musicians alike, After all, we are all supporting each other right!

YAY! Ok everyone, so we've gotten such a warm response to this idea that we've decided to have TWO events for it! Stay tuned little bloggers - I will announce the first one shortly, but perhaps not on this blog.

How do you all feel about sushi, saké, wine, cocktails and Japanese comfort food? Sound tasty? Sushi Zushi opens its doors in Austin next month and we would love to sponsor the Austin blogosphere in any way we can.

Fusion food is what we do. Founded by a Japanese man who was born and raised in Mexico city, we feature traditional Japanese flavors infused with a Latin-American twist. And if sushi just isn't your thing, we've got an entire menu of cooked items thats guaranteed to please any palate.

We'd love to have y'all out sometime! If you're interested, contact bryan@sushizushi.com.

Hey Tolly thanks for the invite. If I can sucker the hubbs into watching Le Bebe I might just pop on by! Sounds super fun.

YAY Jen - rock! Karly will be there too. :)
