I got to interview this lovely woman today!

Do you recognize this beautiful face? It's Rue McClanahan - a.k.a. Blanche Devereauk - who is in Austin right now for a champagne brunch this Sunday!

My chat with Rue will be posted on Austinist tomorrow (including an aside on Rue's cat Kate, who had her first heat at the McClanahan home...a milestone Rue would prefer to "not eva experience again" so spay and neuter your pets people!) In the meantime, if you are a breast cancer survivor or activist, I urge you to attend her talk this Sunday at the Renaissance Hotel, a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas.

Thank you for being a friend, Rue!

I remember watching re-runs of Maude and The Golden Girls when I was just a little pup snuggled up next to my Mom and sisters. The girls regularly made a sort of movie night out of it always having a spread of sweets and comfort foods to snack on while laughing away. Those were some good memories.

I have to ask, was she still spicy as ever? I remember her always being quite the firecracker.

I just wanted to give a shout out to Rue and say congratulations on the upcoming lifetime achievement award, you have earned it. Thank you for all the smiles and laughs doll.

Hipstercrite and Kristen - thanks guys! I was more pumped for this interview than I have maybe been for ANY interview. :) I want to read "My First 5 Husbands" (her autobiography) too!

Aaron - Rue IS saucy! But more sweet. :) While we were on the phone, her son was leaving for work (she's staying with him in Austin for this visit), and was like - "Goodbye, dear! Have a wonderful day! I love you!" Pretty precious.
